Three materials from different eras and origins, brought into one object. The Marquina nero marble top carries its raw natural edge — uncut, unfinished — evoking the worn stone floors of an old Roman villa, surfaces that have absorbed decades of light and footsteps. A layer of orange-tinted wired glass sits below, pulling the piece into the present. A restored metal base completes it. The combination feels both excavated and contemporary — at home in mid-century, industrial and minimal interiors.
Objects in the Derivatives Series are fabricated from reclaimed materials. Subtle surface variations are part of the material’s history and contribute to the individuality of each piece. The following terms describe the visible material character.
Great
Minimal visible surface variation. The material appears clean and refined, either preserving only faint traces of its previous life or presenting a newly applied finish.
Good
Minor surface marks or tonal variations may be visible, reflecting the reclaimed origin of the material.
Fair
Visible surface character including scratches, texture variation, patina, or signs of time from the material’s previous use.
